It’s been 48 hours since LeBron and Co. got smoked in the NBA Finals by the Dubs, and I’m already sick of the rumors:
“LeBron has a home in LA 30 minutes away from Staples Center, he’s bolting for the Clippers or Lakers first chance he gets.”
“LeBron and Chris Paul are BFF’s off the court, they really want to play together.”
“LA is the biggest market that there is, LeBron is looking to capitalize off of that and launch his post-basketball career.”
“Cleveland sucks and no one in their right mind would want to stay there for an extended amount of time.”
Okay, that last one was just me talking. I don’t know if I can take another year of hearing rumors about LeBron crushing Cleveland’s heart yet again. Do I care that he’s destroying The Lands hopes and dreams of him retiring a Cavalier? No, I don’t give a shit where LeBron goes, as long as it’s not the Lakers.
After next season when he will be an unrestricted free agent, LeBron will be entering his 16th year in the league. The wear and tear on his 34 year old body from 15 years of tough regular season play followed by numerous post season runs will be enormous. Is he the best player in the world right now? Arguably, but I don’t want the Lakers to have to mortgage their future in order to accommodate a superstar on the decline, the way that they had a farewell tour for Kobe in his final season. I’m the biggest Kobe fan there is, and I hated to see him go out like that (putting his 60 point final game performance aside).
I think it will be funny when LeBron inevitably leaves the Cavaliers, and all the fans in Cleveland burn their jerseys again. I just don’t want to hear about him bolting every single day on ESPN while he’s still under contract for another year.
Someone get me an IV. The LeBron fatigue is real, and I’ve got a bad case of it.
