Sad. That’s the only word I can think of to describe what I just watched on FOXSports Ohio. No, I’m not talking about the pathetic play of our hometown ball club, I’m talking about Bronson Arroyo announcing he is likely done with his pitching career.
I didn’t expect Bronson to compete for the Cy Young in his return to Cincinnati this season, but I at least hoped he wouldn’t go out unceremoniously, which is essentially what happened today when he was placed on the 60-day disabled list.
I will always be thankful for what Bronson Arroyo was, and still is in his remaining days as a Cincinnati Red. He was always a likable guy regardless of how things were going for him on the mound and what was written about him in that morning’s paper.. back when people still got those.
In classic Bronson fashion, when asked by Jim Day what he’d be doing in the remaining months with the team, he responded in the most Bronson way ever.
“I’ll be working on my beach body.”
Best of luck Bronson. Thank you for everything you brought to this club in your first stint as a Red, and everything you’ll continue to bring this club in 2017 (and hopefully beyond).
