Countdown to Kickoff: 38 Days

38.  Marcus Baugh comes into this season as one of the most experienced players in the wide receiver/tight end group, having played in 38 games during his Ohio State career.  Granted much of that experience early on came from Special Teams play, and Baugh only has 17 starts at Tight End during his three seasons.  His 27 career receptions is also tops among returning Buckeye players.  It goes without saying that the Ohio State receiving corps is going to be fairly inexperienced in 2017, so look for a guy like Baugh to step up and make a big difference this year.  Ohio State has not featured the tight end position as much in the offense in recent years, which is unfortunate because a big, strong tight end that can be an effective run blocker and a receiving threat is a huge asset when used properly.  Baugh can be that guy, so look for new offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson to utilize him heavily in 2017.  Having a target like Baugh will help out JT Barrett greatly this year, especially in the red zone.  He may be a long shot, but if used properly, I could see Marcus Baugh being a finalist for the John Mackey award at the end of the season.
