Countdown to Kickoff: 33 Days

33.  The Buckeyes rushed for 33 touchdowns in 2016, tied for 16th most in the nation.  By all accounts, that isn’t a bad number at all, especially for a team that has a relatively balanced offense.  But it’s also the lowest number of rushing touchdowns for Ohio State since 2011 (a year in which they rushed for only 20 touchdowns).  That’s pretty much the story of the 2016 Buckeyes.  A good team with some really really good moments, but just short of being great. It’s worth mentioning that Mike Weber was just a freshman last year.  It stands to reason that his numbers could improve with a year of experience under his belt.  I fully expect him to top 1500 yards this season, and there’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll eclipse his 2016 touchdown total of 9.  He’s a talented back and I’m excited to see what he can do once he reaches his full potential, even if that’s not for another year or two.
