Countdown to Kickoff: 29 Days

29. Ohio State opens up the season on the road with a conference matchup against Indiana. It has been 29 years since the Hoosiers last beat the Buckeyes, with the last time coming in 1988, a 41-7 Indiana victory in Bloomington. It’s not often that Ohio State falters against Indiana, with only 12 losses to the Hoosiers all time. The Buckeyes have more wins over Indiana (72) than over any other opponent. That being said, there have been times in recent years when Indiana has given Ohio State all they could handle. The last two matchups in Bloomington (2012 and 2015) were both one-score games. With this being the first game of the year, on the road, against a conference opponent, it wouldn’t surprise me if this one is a little too close for comfort. Ultimately I think the Buckeyes will win, but I do think it will be a close one, and everyone will probably overreact to the fact that it wasn’t a blowout. Indiana’s no slouch though, having made a bowl game the past 2 seasons, so the Buckeyes will have their work cut out for them.
