It’s hard to believe a manager leading the Evil Empire to a 86-50 would be feeling the heat, but that’s the world we’re living in. Thanks to the Red Sox and their impressive 94-43 record, putting them 7.5 games in front of the Bronx Bombers entering play Sunday, Aaron Boone has had every single move he makes critiqued. Sure, some of them have been head scratchers but its kinda what you expect out of a first year manager. On Friday night, Aaron finally snapped and put on quite a show for people who love manager meltdowns.
These are the actions of a man that is sick of everyone else’s bullshit. I don’t blame him and I don’t really think I’d act much differently. In fact, I bet I would’ve snapped about 50 games sooner, but that’s just the kind of bad boy I am.
I’m a firm believer that if you make the world laugh with your tirade that leads to ejection, then no further punishment should be levied. If we’re following the rules as I’ve laid out, then there’s absolutely no reason for Aaron Boone to be suspended for one game.
I feel bad for Aaron this season. He’s being treated by Yankees fans like he’s an incompetent goon that can’t manage his way out of a paper bag. It’s not his fault that the Red Sox are running roughshod on the rest of the American League. Just about any team in the league would kill to be in the situation the Yankees are in. If the Yankees are a 100-win team that gets managed down to 95 wins with bad decisions, then so be it. It’s better than being in the situation I’m in with the Reds, where we’re a 70 win team regardless of who is making the lineup.
Maybe next year when Aaron Judge decides not to be made of glass and the Red Sox come back to earth we’ll be seeing a different Boone at the helm. I can’t wait for the 2019 World Series with Aaron Boone leading his Yankees into Cincinnati to take on the Barry Larkin led Reds.Follow @BennyMacBlog
