As America was settling down for the evening, getting ready for tonight’s Top-15 match-up between Ohio State and TCU, the Browns dropped a bombshell that I don’t think anyone was expecting.
Don’t get me wrong… I think we all knew this is how the Cleveland-Gordon love story would end, but I don’t think anyone was expecting it this early in his most recent comeback tour.
Earlier in the day Gordon was ruled out for Sunday’s showdown with the New Orleans Saints due to a hamstring injury, but nothing raised any red flags. At least not on my radar. Apparently the Cleveland Browns’ front office saw things differently with their up close and personal looks at the very talented Gordon.
That doesn’t sound good. Nope, not one bit. Things don’t really get any better after reading this excerpt from a 2017 piece by SI.com:
“I’ve used alcohol on many, many occasions, Xanax on many occasions, cocaine several occasions, marijuana most of my life, codeine, cough syrup, methazine is very prevalent where I’m from,” Gordon says. “It’s what I grew up using.”
Scroll back up to that YIKES gif. Ok, back? Let’s move on.
I really hope Josh can get clean and live a happy and healthy life, whether it’s with football as a key component or not. A lot of times when guys have a troubled past or a recent string of bad behavior, just a change of scenery is what the doctor ordered. In this instance, I don’t think Cleveland is the problem. (It felt kinda weird saying that).
The Browns have done everything in their power to get him healthy and back on the right track. It seems like it was their intention since day one to help him personally while he developed into one of the top-performing wide receivers in the NFL. Sadly neither of those things ever happened. Now with their backs against the wall, they’re apparently taking trade calls for the troubled wide receiver. I don’t understand why anyone would make that trade, but nothing NFL owners do will ever 100% surprise me.
Enjoy Cleveland, Dez.Follow @BennyMacBlog
