Disclaimer: Today’s winner has nothing to do with my Alma Mater being the greatest university on the planet, and the fact that Oklahoma has swagger-jacked our OU moniker over the years. Ok, maybe it does.. sue me. Continue reading
Every Saturday we see hilarious signs on ESPN’s College GameDay. The Washington State flag is a staple, but each week we’re blessed with hilarious signs (if you get the joke behind it) and sometimes questionable claims or accusations about an opposing player or coach (i.e. MilkGate between Michigan and Ohio State fans last season).
This season I’ll be posting the best sign(s) I saw throughout the day. If you come across any as you fight off a Saturday morning hangover and try to figure out if you’re watching Chris Fowler or Rece Davis talk, be sure to send them my way.
I’m an Ohio Bobcats season ticket holder (not to brag, but I’m bragging), so I will be relying heavily on Twitter and our loyal readers to send screen grabs my way. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get the bartender at Pigskin to stop, rewind, and pause one of their TVs just so I can take a picture of someone making fun of Nick Saban for not smiling.
This week the College GameDay crew is in Columbus, Ohio for the Ohio State vs. Oklahoma (the knock-off OU). Since it’s a late match up, there should be plenty of time for funny signs to be caught on camera if you can see past all the Home Depot signage and subtle advertisement.
Send any signs you see my way at @MillironMac on Twitter. I’ll credit you for finding the best sign of the week if I use yours, and somewhere down the line we may work in some prizes or other opportunities (a day spent with Jefe, perhaps).
The Milliron Sports crew is embarking on an awesome adventure this Saturday. We are returning to our home away from home; Ohio University for Ohio Brew Week. A trip to Athens no matter how long or short the stay always provides endless stories. It also brings back a lot of memories, and obviously with the reputation of being a highly ranked party school most memories are about drunken nights. I have a couple of stories I’d like to share that come to mind every time I think Athens.
In case you haven’t heard, the Milliron Sports crew is headed to Ohio Brew Week, in Athens, OH this upcoming weekend. I’m a proud Bobcat, even though I left after my sophomore year to pursue my education back home in Cincinnati. There are so many memories (some a little hazy) from my time at OU that stick out, but my favorite memory from an OU sporting event happened in September of 2005.
The Pittsburgh Panthers had started the season ranked #23 in the nation under new coach Dave Wannstedt, who had just the previous season been coaching in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins. Ohio had also welcomed a new coach that year; former Nebraska head coach Frank Solich. Solich was tasked with turning the Bobcats program around, and bringing them back into MAC Championship contention.
Welcome back to my week-long journey into the wonderful world of craft beers. American Craft Beer Week is May 15th through May 21st and each night I’ll be selecting a different craft beer to review. For the sake of journalistic integrity, I will be consuming each beer immediately prior to reviewing it. In fact, I may have 2 or 3 just to make sure that I get it right.
I’ll preface this by saying that I am by no means a beer expert. If you’re looking to hear about how the beer has hints of grapefruit, or what the “mouthfeel” is, you’ve come to the wrong place. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to try to bring that type of insight, I’m just letting you know now that I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about. I can tell you what I like and I can tell you what I don’t like. After that, you’re own your own to form your own opinions. Now without further ado, let’s review some beers.
