It seems like every year we get a few upsets in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament and everyone wonders “how didn’t we see that coming?”. Well, you have no excuse this season, because I’ve picked 5 upsets I think there is a good chance we’ll see. If you’re a fan of any of the teams I’ve picked to be upset, don’t worry… I’m almost guaranteed to be wrong considering I picked three 11-seeds to upset the 6-seed. Maybe I’ll get lucky and hit on at least one of the 6v11 match ups. I don’t see any of the teams I’ve picked to upset the higher seeds to turn into another Cinderella story, but they could wreak havoc on anyone who thinks a middle of the pack team from a major conference will make a run into the later rounds. I’m not one to bore you with a bunch of stats. These upset picks are derived from my gut feelings and misguided logic.
Welcome to Jefe’s 25 Beers ’til Christmas, today I give Michigan a chance to prove they don’t suck as much as Whitty and T-bone tell me they do. I will be trying a Christmas beer from Bell’s Brewery and I will be rating it on a scale of 1 to 5. Let’s see if it made me give a damn about at least part of the state of Michigan.
The long awaited return of the Milliron Sports College GameDay Sign blog is here. It’s been a while, but the stars aligned and I was able to get some quality time in with the blog machine on this gloomy Saturday morning.
The GameDay crew was in Madison, Wisconsin for this week’s showdown between the Michigan Wolverines and Wisconsin Badgers. I have no dog in the fight, but I love cold weather Big Ten football, so this is must see TV in the Mac household. As expected, the opposing coach, Jim Harbaugh took a beating from the fans with their signs. If you can weed through all the copycats out there trying to get money sent to their Venmo accounts, there is usually some pretty good content in the crowd. That is, unless you’re in NYC Time Square for some weird reason. Continue reading
On today’s episode the Nati Boys, the guys get scandalous talking about the recent indictments brought down by the FBI on a few different NCAA coaches and schools. We also talk Harbaugh vs. Purdue’s visitors locker rooms, and the upcoming college football weekend for the Buckeyes and Bearcats. Our NFL talk includes our picks against the spread, Brent Musburger dissin’ Tony Romo, and a San Diego restaurant giving away free tacos when the Chargers lose. We wrap the show up with a fantasy draft of our favorite sports scandals. Enjoy the show!

ESPN – Alabama coach Nick Saban has a theory for the College Football Playoff that he thinks is “so far out” that nobody will listen to him.
“We should play all teams in the Power 5 conferences,” Saban said Wednesday. “If we did that, then if we were going to have bowl games, we should do the bowl games just like we do in the NCAA basketball tournament — not by record but by some kind of power rating that gets you in a bowl game. If we did that, people would be a little less interested in maybe bowl games and more interested in expanding the playoff.”
Shut up, Nick. Well, I mean… I kinda agree with you in some aspects, but shut up. While it’s absurd that 6 wins can get you a bowl berth, I’m not a fan of the expanded playoff system and the Power 5 conferences keeping to themselves throughout the regular season. Continue reading
48. Ohio State currently has 48 victories against that team up north. While they still trail by 10 total victories in the series, they’ve absolutely dominated of late. Since 2004, the Buckeyes have only lost once to the Wolverines. I’m predicting that the Buckeyes take the series lead within the next 15 years (and if they don’t, this whole Internet fad should finally be over by then, so nobody will be able to come back and call me out). Last year’s contest may have been one of the best in the history of The Game. Both teams were ranked in the top 3 in the country for just the second time ever, and it was the first time in the history of the rivalry that it went to overtime. The Buckeyes managed to pull out a double overtime victory that included a controversial first down call that went in Ohio State’s favor. As an “unbiased” observer, I’d say the refs got that one right. Also, as an “unbiased” observer, I’d say that Jim Harbaugh can suck it. It’s going to be tough to top last year’s game, but I think I’m okay with that. I’m not sure my heart can handle the stress of another tight one like that. I’m thinking more along the lines of a nice, easy 30+ point victory as the Buckeyes cruise into the Big 10 championship game at 12-0. Yeah, I think that will do just nicely.
