If this happens, I’m gonna lose my goddamn mind. In no universe will I ever blame Mick for wanting to take a huge job like this, and UC would have nobody to blame but themselves. They can’t cry big bad wolf like they have in the past when the Blue Bloods of college football stole their head coaches that were just using the Bearcats job as a stepping stone. Mick is a Cincinnati guy through and through, and if you injected some truth serum into him, I 100% guarantee he wants to spend the rest of his career and life in Cincinnati. They said it at the beginning of the year, but a lot of people were skeptical. This was going to be Mick Cronin’s best team since he took over the reigns from Andy Kennedy at Cincinnati.
This season, Cronin has done an outstanding job coaching the Bearcats, and today he was named the Sporting News Coach of the Year after leading Cincinnati to the outright AAC regular season title. Your #12 Cincinnati Bearcats tip off Friday at noon against NCAA powerhouse Savannah State. The boys are looking good from what I’ve seen of the Red and Black scrimmage, and the two exhibition blowouts. I’m going to argue that Cumberland and Evans are NBA bound, possibly after this season. I can’t blame them; if they have spectacular seasons, make that money while you can.
With the new season starting up, here’s a look back at last years highlights:
Earlier this morning, USA Today released their preseason top 25 for the 2017-18 college basketball season. Cincinnati (21), Xavier (12), UK (6) and Louisville (9) all made the list. It’s entirely too early for these sort of predictions, but people love lists. Not gonna lie, I immediately clicked on it to see where they had my Bearcats ranked to begin next season.Embed from Getty Images
