Am I Being Trolled by The Frisco Bowl?

It’s #BowlSZN and we’re back on the football-game-every-night schedule that we all know and love. Getting the itch to watch two 7-5 teams duke it out on a Tuesday night in front of 300 screaming fans? ESPN has you covered. Need to see a middle of the pack Mountain West team lay the icky thump on a team from the Sun Belt? Be sure to tune into CBS Sports Network. I’ll see you there.

This year OUr beloved Ohio Bobcats are taking on the Aztecs of San Diego State in the prestigious Frisco Bowl – a bowl game so highly regarded that they play it in a stadium that has an MLS team as it’s primary tenant. Sound familiar, San Diego football fans? Have no fear though, the Aztecs will return to San Diego after their stint in a soccer cathedral (unlike your Chargers). #BoltUp

When I first heard the Bobcats would be traveling to the Frisco Bowl, I thought “oh, that’s pretty cool. A bowl game that doesn’t sell out to a weird sponsor like we’ve seen so many times before.” Man, was I wrong. It’s not just the Frisco Bowl.. It’s the DXL Frisco Bowl. Yeah, the company that sells clothes to plus-size dudes (it’s ok to say fat guys I think, but I didn’t wanna risk it in this day and age). Continue reading

Johnny Manziel Better Learn French, Vite

ProFootballTalk.comThe Hamilton Tiger-Cats have agreed to trade Manziel to the Montreal Alouettes, according to Duane Ford of TSN.

Alouettes head coach Mike Sherman knows Manziel well, having coached him at Texas A&M. Manziel’s redshirt freshman season in 2011 was Sherman’s final season coaching the Aggies.

The Alouettes have already tried three quarterbacks (Drew Willy, Jeff Mathews and Matt Shiltz) and have the worst offense in the Canadian Football League. If Manziel can’t beat those guys out, that’s a very bad sign.

It’s hard to believe the Alouettes would trade for Manziel if they aren’t going to play him, so it appears that Manziel may soon, finally, get on the field in Canada.

OU’s Playoff Hopes are Still Alive…but Barely

While many people may have left them for dead, there’s still an outside chance that OU can squeak into the College Football Playoff this year. And just to clarify, we’re talking about the real OU, not those idiots out in Norman that don’t understand how abbreviations work. Sure, the Bobcats chances took a big hit Tuesday night with an unexpected loss at the hands of Akron, but all hope is not lost in Athens, OH. After crunching some numbers, running millions of simulations (manually, by hand, because Milliron Sports didn’t have much room in the technology budget this year) and studying dozens of résumés from playoff hopefuls, it appears that Ohio still has an outside chance. Admittedly, it’s a pretty big long-shot, but it’s not impossible. Hear me out… Continue reading

Louisville knew they had their work cut out for them after Columbus’ strong showing last week as Ohio State took on The University of Oklahoma (aka UO). Did they answer the call? Coming Soon: Today’s Best College GameDay Signs

Every Saturday we see hilarious signs on ESPN’s College GameDay. The Washington State flag is a staple, but each week we’re blessed with hilarious signs (if you get the joke behind it) and sometimes questionable claims or accusations about an opposing player or coach (i.e. MilkGate between Michigan and Ohio State fans last season).

This season I’ll be posting the best sign(s) I saw throughout the day. If you come across any as you fight off a Saturday morning hangover and try to figure out if you’re watching Chris Fowler or Rece Davis talk, be sure to send them my way.

I’m an Ohio Bobcats season ticket holder (not to brag, but I’m bragging), so I will be relying heavily on Twitter and our loyal readers to send screen grabs my way. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get the bartender at Pigskin to stop, rewind, and pause one of their TVs just so I can take a picture of someone making fun of Nick Saban for not smiling.

This week the College GameDay crew is in Columbus, Ohio for the Ohio State vs. Oklahoma (the knock-off OU). Since it’s a late match up, there should be plenty of time for funny signs to be caught on camera if you can see past all the Home Depot signage and subtle advertisement.

Send any signs you see my way at @MillironMac on Twitter. I’ll credit you for finding the best sign of the week if I use yours, and somewhere down the line we may work in some prizes or other opportunities (a day spent with Jefe, perhaps).
